OK. It just so happens my master's treatise was titled: The Social Ramifications of Indigestable Sugars. It seems that the body's gastro-intestinal tract cannot break down certain complex hydrocarbons. These hydrocarbons arrive in the small intestines with the hydrogen atoms still bonded with the carbons. It is possible to know that hydorcarbons are not broken down by the body by measuring the amount of chemical energy still available in these chemical bonds. Non-digested molecules will have more energy since none was given over to the body by breaking any of the bonds. As a test try eating generous portions of baked beans and lard-fried onion rings--the beans, onions, and oil all contain hydrocarbons that the body cannot digest. Now when a juicy one comes out, use a lighter to empirically observe the concentration of unburned (unoxidized by the body) flammable gasses present in the mixture. Just make sure you use saftey glasses as in any chemistry lab. +-------------------------------------+ | USENET: decvax!ittvax!sii!dmcnh!gts | "It is improper to | USMail: Guy T.
