According to the newspaper report I read, Mowat's name was on the list because in the 60s, he stated publicly that he had used a high-powered rifle to take potshots at American fighter planes as a form of protest against America. He has confirmed this statement several times. Famous or not, most countries are reluctant to allow lunatics into their borders. Assuming this newspaper report was true regarding Mowat's statements, I wouldn't let him in either; and if I was a Canadian, I'd wonder why no one tried to prosecute him for attempted murder, sabotage, etc. I don't support censoring Communists because they are Communists (let alone those who "consort" with them); I do support keeping the lid on people who resort to violence as a means of political self- expression. -- "We've taken out all the bugs in the software and installed new and improved bugs."
