Often it is a single gopher (in our yard at least) that digs all the mounds. Poison just doesn't work well and it's too dangerous. Gas does nothing at all (referring to a previous net discussion). Traps leave no doubt about the fate of the gopher and often catch it within an hour. Now, there was a great method described a while back that involved sulphur, a blowtorch, and a wheelbarrow.
