 Reading through the bill I don't think it would be
 all that objectionable if:
 
 1. backup copies were specifically exempt from
    copying restrictions, and
 2. the manufacturer was required to guarantee
    that the product performs as described
 
 as it is they get the money and buyers get the shaft.
