This is probably the best example of someone NOT knowing the correct way
of doing things. The volume controll can easily be read by an application
(documented in the OS utilities section, and perhaps the sound driver
of IM.)  The value could have been checked after every call to
either CloseDeskAcc (good) or SystemClick (better.) In any case, playing
with desk accessories on the MusiWorks disk will invalidate this kluge.
