I am using the serial port that came with my AT (advanced version) and I using
it right now to send that response using PCTERM at 9600. I also use PCKERMIT
2.27 once in a while also at 9600 with no problems whatsoever. Is your serial
port different on your board that the IBM one?

That could be the reason, although it is surprising.
