Lines: 33 One must take into account that the reviewer is a Kung-Fu movie fan. I've seen "Enter the Dragon" about eight times and wouldn't mind seeing it again. "Gymkata" is the worst Kung-Fu movie I have ever watched. I didn't even get the perverse pleasure of laughing at the dubbing. Kurt Russell sure can do gymnastics, he sure can't (pretend) to fight, though. The plot is simple (what else would you expect?): Kurt Russell is asked by the US Government to participate in a deadly obstacle course in a far-off (I forget the name..sounds like "Pakistan") country. The winner gets a single wish. The US wants Kurt to win so that they could put a Strategic Defense satellite base (as his "wish"). The action isn't. There isn't a tense spot in the whole film. The more I see films lacking Bruce Li's choreography, the more I realize what an artist he was. "Gymkata" has one (1) redeeming feature. The "girl" is quite charming. It is a pity that they only let her fight for about 2 minutes in the entire film. The black satin body suit was certainly pleasant. For Kung-Fu fans, this movie rates 1 out of 5 For Non Kung-Fu fans, this movie rates 0 out of 5 (i.e. you'll get more entertainment going to McD's and ordering Quarter Pounders without cheese) Miss it. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- What is your name?
