Showing of Fritz Lang "Siegfried" w/Wagner soundtrack Message-ID: <344@olivee.UUCP> Date: Thu, 2-May-85 13:47:49 EDT Article-I.D.: olivee.344 Posted: Thu May 2 13:47:49 1985 Date-Received: Fri, 17-May-85 05:24:32 EDT Distribution: net Organization: Olivetti ATC; Cupertino, Ca Lines: 26 Xref: watmath net.music.classical:1108 net.movies:6403 I posted an article previously mentioning the showing of this film in conjunction with San Francisco "Ring" performances this summer. I've been deluged (to put it mildly) with requests for more info. Here it is. The film will be shown on June 20 (I believe 8 PM) in Herbst Theater on Van Ness in San Francisco (across the street from City Hall). Tickets are $10. Seating is still available in orchestra, dress circle, and the balcony. You can phone and charge by credit card (415) 864-3330. As I mentioned previously, the soundtrack has been made up from various recordings of orchestral excerpts of various Wagner operas. The majority of the music is from the "Ring" itself, but there are sections from "Lohengrin" and "Parsifal". The real challenge for my friend, who made up the original track for his own enjoyment, was finding recordings that had the particular sections he wanted WITHOUT voices (since he felt that voices would have been intrusive to the film). I'm letting this go for worldwide distribution because I've been told that tickets for the Ring itself have been bought by people from around the world who will be travelling here for this event. - Greg Paley
