I've just become a senior here at Reed and I want to write my bachelor's thesis on folk music. The plan outlined in my thesis prospectus (I'm a history-literature major) is to trace the changes in particular folk ballads geographically and temporally (i.e., follow a song across the Atlantic, or through several generations of variants over the years). If anyone out there has any interest in this sort of study, or knows someone who does, I would *love* to hear from you over the summer, or next year. Thanks! Ellen Eades (tektronix!reed!ellen)
