I believe the video you are referring to is called "Ear to the Ground" produced
by John Sanborn. If you call Teletronics in NYC, They could put you in touch
with him. He has also done a GREAT video of Adrian Belew's (sp)  "Big Electric 
Cat" which is on the SIGGRAPH '83 video collection.

If you get the chance, D.v.T. is wonderful in performance, I especially liked
the part where he deflates the Hello-Kitty beach ball full of B-B's with the
nozzle 1 inch from the microphone.
