I stand corrected. It would be more accurate to say that US investments
account for a larger share of the South African economy than they
do for the Soviet economy. Moreover, the US has consistently invested
in South Africa than it has in the Soviet Union. US investment in
the USSR is more dependent upon the whims of both countries' politicians. 
I apologize for the error.
