It compares several different brands. As far as I know it's still on the news stands. With the exception of its weight the Vivitar was rated as one of the best. It was considered better than all of the camera maker zooms with the exception of one Nikkor lens. There was another off brand lens rated as the best buy, but I forget who makes it. The Vivitar is the fastest zoom in its range, but Consumer Reports to think that the extra weight required to do this is too much.
