I agree with Greg Skinner (gregbo@houxm) about skating being an
alternative to dancing.  I have gone skating for years, alone or with
friends.  For only a few dollars I can get several hours of fun and
exercise.  Being a regular at a rink also allows me to meet other
regulars.  I can also meet people by offering to help them learn.

For cost, there is a rink here in Albuquerque that can't be beat; wed
nights are only a dollar (including skate rental).
