I was introduced to Norma Lynn (my girlfriend) by Mark, a colleague in my
department.  Mark's wife (Vicky) had been a friend of Norma Lynn's in
college.  Mark and Vicky invited Norma Lynn and me to join them on a canoe
trip.  We liked each other and started dating.  A few weeks later, we found
out that this was what Mark and Vicky had had in mind when they invited us!

Previous girlfriends I have met in various ways.  One was someone I met at a
dance.  The way we got started talking was that she thought I looked
familiar.  When we started talking about it, we discovered that we had been
on a double date together--in which she had been the other guy's date.  The
double date had been about two years before and about 300 miles away!
