My senior prom was interesting.  Real loud heavy metal band.  The
group that I was with decided to break the ice on the floor, since
nobody else was dancing.  We did what came naturally in rural Central
California (Lompoc/Santa Maria/San Luis Obispo area):
we SQUARE DANCED!!

Square dancing is also a lot of fun, and isn't horribly difficult.
And you can do it to many kinds of music.  When one of my fellow
math tutors asked me to be her partner at this year's SuperDance
(an annual dance marathon here at UCB), we found ourselves square-
dancing to everything from metal to funk to world-beat.  She was
from Taiwan and had never SD'ed before, but she picked up the basics
in no time.  Were it not for this, it would've been kinda hard to
dance to some of the stuff that was playing...
