If you want to have more offense, or 'make the game more exiting' why don't you just take the idea all the way and have two teams - one offensive and one defensive [like football]. this way not only wouldn't you see the pitcher bat, you wouldn't have to see no-power no-average - good glove infielders bat either. By the way, if your a NL fan like me, you might have caught a word about an amazing game the METS played recently. 18 innings against the PIRATES where a pitcher pinch hit for an infielder [Rhoden, I believe] because all his regulars were used up. this pitcher has a +260. avg. Of course if he played in the AL we wouldn't know his avg. !!!!!!! And yes, the pitcher got the hit. Dee Jay Bee
