I'd like to see the Star Trek universe start to revolve around other
characters, rather than those of the current actors who obviously are
getting on in age.

We could start with Captain Sulu, and his Science officer Saavik.
Chekov could be kept around as navigator.  Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Scotty
could just make guest appearances to keep the ratings up, but if we don't
have to pay the biggest names such high salaries, we might be able to
hire better writers and get better/more special effects.

Anyone else from the current cast of characters that you want to keep?

(This was prompted by a segment on Entertainment Tonight (I think) that
had small interviews with the actors.  I was really appalled at how old
and wrinkled Spock, McCoy, adn Scotty looked.  Shatner could get by for
a little while, but I personally would rather see a movie or show about
someone not so smug.  Just goes to show you what makeup can do for the
elderly.)

Ok, just how old are the actors anyway?  Some concordance (which I don't
have) must list their ages.  Anyway care to post their ages?
