The script extracts definitions of nroff/troff/roff macros from files, and knows about the -ms, -mm, -me, man etc libraries so you can say extract -ms LP to look at the -ms definition, or extract -ffred LP to look at the definition of LP in the file fred. I find it useful for when people come along and say "how can I change the ms macros to draw a line between paragraphs" or whatever, because I can show them the macro (or change it myself) very quickly. I hesitated to post it in case I got deluged with "In troff, how can I...." questions, but I'm holding my breath....
