Three things come immediately to mind:

    THING ONE: Wine, maybe? (If you teetotal, then juice.)

    THING TWO: Freeze 'em. J-O-C and other books of that genre ususally give
    directions on how to parboil and freeze various fruits. The nice thing
    about this is that you can decide later what to do with them.

    THING THREE: Make some pemican. I've had good success with apples,
    grapes and apricots. Find a decent recipe, but the main idea is you mix
    the fruit with water and a bit of sugar, then dry in an oven at low heat
    for several hours. It keeps forever and makes a nice trail snack.


OH -- thing 3(a) -- I used to LOVE making a dessert of frozen yoghurt
covered with Quaker 100% Natural Cereal and blueberries.  Mmmm, mmmm!

ps: I'd be curious to see a follow-up posting of the ideas you get. Here in
WA state, there are LOTS of fruits later in the year at ridiculous prices,
and I'd like ideas other than jam... thanks. -gb-
