ABSTRACT

We  consider  the problem of tracing rays (light, elas-
tic,   acoustic)   through   heterogeneous,  piece-wise
smooth,  media,  and some of its applications in earth-
quake seismology, underwater acoustics, and prospecting
for energy resources.
