Our DEC tech. had got word from a support person in Atlanta about a microcode problem which caused bad blocks to be erroneously flagged. Several persons called or mailed to me for a fuller explanation. We tried to verify the information here and eventually even talked to the microcoder of the RQDX1 (or DECman talked to him). To make a long story short, no one heard of such a bug and we now assume the original information from Atlanta was wrong. (No one could find who was the man from Atlanta either. Maybe a DG spy?). We have since got our disk replaced (along with some other problems fixed) and we now believe there was never a microcode bug. I am sorry for alarming anyone needlessly and in particular for detracting from the uVAX's reputation (We think it's great - we think the uVAX-II will be greater still). Rg -------
