Some diagnostic advice needed Message-ID: <1827@ukma.UUCP> Date: Thu, 30-May-85 14:38:20 EDT Article-I.D.: ukma.1827 Posted: Thu May 30 14:38:20 1985 Date-Received: Sat, 1-Jun-85 00:12:57 EDT Organization: U of Kentucky, Mathematical Sciences, Lexington KY Lines: 34 I'm having a peculiar problem with my FM tuner. I have my cable-TV feed hooked directly to the tuner's antenna terminals (75 ohm connection) so I can receive FM cable. The problem occurs when I listen to one particular station. Shortly after tuning to the station, the left channel output stops and only some occasional popping sounds come from the speaker. Tuning away from the station to another and then retuning to the first solves the problem, but only for a few seconds. The station I'm trying to receive is non-local and can only be found on the cable. The audio level from this station is considerably lower than other (local) stations. (I don't know how the signal strength compares, my strength meter quit several years ago.) Since local stations come in fine and all other sources (tape, turntable) have no problems the problem must be in the tuner section. Does anyone out there have any suggestions about what could be wrong? Is my receiver just letting me know that it's sick and dying? (It's about 8 years old) -- edward {ucbvax, unmvax, boulder, research}!anlams! -| () {mcvax!qtlon,vax135,mddc}!qusavx! -|--> ukma!edward | | |-- {decvax,ihnp4,mhuxt,seismo}! -+-> cbosgd! -| /|--- {clyde,osu-eddie,ulysses}! ---| | \ _ \___/ \= Support barrier free design "Well, what's on the television then?"
