  The Sony TCD-5M (aka d-5) is a very high quality portable

  recorder.  I have quite a few friends that own and use them   

  regularly.  The people I know use them for live concert

  recordings.  They are built very well and can take a few of

  lifes bumps and grinds.  If that's the direction you're going

  I'll be happy to make inquiries with my friends for you.
