You think Care Bears are insipid? Perhaps you have overlooked (ugh!shudder) Cosgrove - he hasn't received quite the exposure they've gotten. Nothing on the boob tube (yet) and no cuddly toys. The man writes books, children's books, all about *adorable* fantasy creatures, but with no sense of mystery, and each one ends with a pat little moral in (wretched) verse. To make things worse, the man has no feel for the English language; he writes poorly. Each little book sets up a straw man as a problem and then neatly knocks it down (e.g. Trafalgar True is sad because the little Kith and Kin won't share, so they decide to share and he is happy again; Flutterby doesn't know what she is, so she decides to be herself). Sounds harmless, doesn't it. If only it didn't try to masquerade as children's literature.
