Guess what?  There are only 5 bits available for storing your
experience level.  "I had a great game going..."

Suddenly my experience level was 0 !  I kept getting the message
"Your fingertips glow white!".  Killing monsters, even hefty ones
(e.g., &'s) did not change my level.  My hit points came back
very slowly.  My carrying capacity decreased.  In desperation,
I let a W hit me.

"You die..."

Killed by a Wraith.  Pretty powerful wraith, I had over 180 HP.

next time you're at level 31 of experience, be careful what you
put in your food hole.
