During one of my many trips into the vault via the secret door by the
engraving (and also one of my many deaths in the vault) I picked up all
the money and not having any other way out of the vault waited for the guard.

When the guard arrived I zapped him with a polymorph staff and killed the
resulting kolbold. Much to my surprise when I tried to leave, the tunnel out
of the vault ended two steps from the vault!

So I waited and another guard showed. Being the nice person I am (when about
to die) this time I dropped all my gold and followed the guard. He wandered off
the end of the tunnel and I couldn't follow!

Eventually a third guard showed, I polymorphed him hoping for a leppy but never
got one and eventually starved to death.

I think this is a bug but am not sure what should happen. At the very least the
second guard should have let me out!  Also once I've have polymorphed the guard
to a kolbold, does killing the resulting kolbold hurt my luck?
