Thanks to all of you who responded to my plea for help.  There were many more
than I expected.  Everyone had a slightly different twist on the same theme.
The following is the solution I opted for:

1)  save the joke in a file (we use "s" here)
2)  exit the net
3)  edit out the header (sender's address,etc)
4)  run this command:

	tr "[n-z][a-m][N-Z][A-M]" "[a-z][A-Z]" <rotted-filename> newfile
