Besides the fact that ANSI C does not support the assumption that an "int" is bigger than 16 bits in portable code, I would like to point out that the posted benchmarks do not seem to be testing much that relates to the expected behavior of real applications code. Reminds me of the meaningless stereo amplifier wattage race that starts up every decade or so.
