In addition to seeing a lawyer, I would strongly recommend going to the place where the incident took place and taking some Polaroid shots that illustrate the point you made, that the sign prohibiting turns was not readily visible. Evidence of this kind would go a long way towards improving your chances, even if you are technically guilty.
