Group, Raleigh, NC Lines: 20 HELP!!! I have no problem with my Hayes Smartmodem with a Hazeltine 1500 hooked up to it, but when I hook my computer(Dimension 68000) up to it, the modem becomes a Hayes Notsosmartmodem. It won't even go off hook. I've checked out the cable, and according to both manuals the cable is just fine. The modems LED's wink and blink if I hit any keys, but the Hayes won't recognize any of what are supposed to be its control characters. Transmit is 8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit at 1200 bps(300 doesn't work either). I'm getting rather confused as to what's going on. Has anyone in netland run into similar problems of this kind? I would really appreciate any help or direction y'all could give me. Thanks in Advance, Dick Schoenling decvax!ittvax!ittral!schoenli
