Remember the problem is that uucico sets an alarm timer for such a short time that it is impossible to pulse dial a cross country number and connect before the damn thing times out. It is an OLD and well known bug that Microsoft and now IBM insists on keeping. The nastiest and best idea I have heard (and I will not reviel who suggested it) is to put in the dial code that uucico calls , a patch that resets the system timer back a short amount. Thus holding off the timeout while it has a chance to dial (about 45 seconds). I thought such a technique merits recording for the future. Dave
