Message-ID: <552@mtuxn.UUCP> Date: Tue, 28-May-85 18:26:55 EDT Article-I.D.: mtuxn.552 Posted: Tue May 28 18:26:55 1985 Date-Received: Fri, 31-May-85 05:27:51 EDT Organization: AT&T Information Systems, Holmdel NJ Lines: 27 Xref: linus net.micro:9288 net.micro.pc:3778 Desparately need info. on a tape backup system for a Compaq Plus. I think the computer store we have been dealing with on this problem has been jerking me around ... They say that we have to settle for floppy backup!! I don't believe them! First, they gave us some excuse about the Compaq not having enough capacity in the power supply - this should only be an issue for internal tape drives, we want an external unit (Want to keep both the floppy & hard disks). Then they said that most tape drives interface directly to the existing floppy disk contoller and that Compaq's controller is not compatible with the PC (XT). I don't know if this is so, seems to be farfetched. If anybody has interfaced a tape (cartridge or otherwise) to a Compaq please let me know. Thanks in advance. mtuxn!fjpls 201-577-5341 (8-5 EST) 8-270-5341 (coronet) 201-370-4210 (home, call collect if you can help) A rose by any other name is not UNIX...
