The first day, it seemed to work fine, although I didn't try to load any commercial software with special protections. The second day, it would no longer format disks, although it would still read and write to the disks that I had formatted the first day. When I took it back to the store where I had purchased it, the assistant manager informed me that they had been having a large number of returns of CSD1's which would not load software with 1541 dependent protection schemes. I wish I had more information to pass on, but I only had the unit two days. For those considering purchasing this unit, be cautious. BTW, it only sold for $20 less than the 1541.
