In particular, when I tried to underline on a line that contained a quotation mark (") within several words of the point at which underlining was to start, I instead got no underlining but a literal translation of the escape sequence, such as E. Alot of trial and error taught me that if i doubled up on the quotation marks, the underlining would work. Thus, some examples: "this is a quote" that I want to ESC E underline ESC R produced: "this is a quote" that I want to E underline R however "this is a quote"" that I want to ESC E underline ESC R produced: "this is a quote" that I want to underline (where underline was underlined) I also experimented and found that if the quotation mark was far enough away, say more that 10 words, the underlining would work fine, but otherwise not. Also, if I used (') instead of ("), everything was OK. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem, and can anyone help me to understand and perhaps overcome the problem. Thanks in advance.
