Yes, Syd Barrett is no longer institutionalized, but last I heard he was living with his mother and was incontinent. The whole of his problems was apparently brought on by too many acid trips. In fact, I remember one account that said he would stand and strum the same chord through a whole concert just before the rest of the band kicked him out. It is also rumored that when Floyd was doing their "Wish You Were Here" album about burning out in the corporate music world, Barrett showed up looking like death warmed over trying to offer his services. Oh yeah, the name of his other album was simply BARRETT.
