I don't think you read Bill's entire note. It says very plainly, at the end, "Just another point of view". What exactly is knowing? You ask, "how do you know?". That's a ridulious question. Bill just posted his view. Flame off. My point of view is that nature, the universe, everything is in balance. To grow and learn you must search out the balance. God, religion(s), etc. are just part of the balance. To glue oneself to one "religious" point of view and ignore the others because they are not "the word of God" is unfortunate.
