It was written by Jonathan Jacky who is described as "a research assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He is the author of numerous scholarly articles on computer science." The article is generally good. It takes a very critical look at the DoDs attitude towards the software required to make Star Wars work. He also points out how the Strategic Computing Program is linked with the Star Wars work. The article notes that "an unprecedented flow of DoD dollars is intended, in the Pentagon's words, to 'push' and 'pull' the nation's computer scientists into working on 'carefully selected military applications.'"
