It is red oak, I can't remember the type of "oil" finish it had on it. The problem is that now I get water spots, rings, etc. like crazy (it is our eating table :-(). The current finish is Watco Danish oil (2 coats), with their liquid wax. Which (or is it both) are/is the culprit? Any suggestions on a non-plastic finish that can hold up (we are usually quite gentle with our furniture, so it need not be child-proof). barry steel
