I got this gentle talk when I was 15. For a 17 year old, he handled it pretty well, and I was crushed for only a week or so. I think I used something similar when I had to tell a few guys that I wasn't as serious about the relationship as they were. After six years of dating Lee, we both decided that since we felt closer to the other people we were dating, we should probably break up. How did we know? Well, when Lee would come to visit, I still wanted to include David in various activities (No, not a menage- a-trois, but dinner and such.) Everyone knew what was happening and who was dating whom, so it wasn't a surprise. Lee's other person (now his wife) insisted that we would end up this way just because it was more convenient. Maybe it is over when they invite other people on dates when you are only in town for a few days. Beth Katz {seismo,allegra}!umcp-cs!beth
