As somebody (Pournelle?) once observed:

	1. Alpha Centauri, the nearest star, is 4.3 LY away.
	2. Assuming 0.99999c propulsion and radio/laser data return, the
		round-trip time is thus 8.6 years.
	3. The maximum US presidential term is 8 years.
	4. 8 < 8.6, so no starprobes.
