I've just heard that the Philies are putting Mike Schmitt on first base to
play a minor leaguer in third.  Did I hear it right ?  Supposedly, This will
put more left-handed power into the line-up (I guess the new 3rd base man
is left handed).  But isn't Philies' current 1st basemen (?? Corcorran) also
left handed ? What about Greg Gross (he usually pinch hits - but also play
1st base pretty good) who also bats left.  I can't figure out why Philies
are doing this.  Is it an act of desparation ?

I used to follow Phillies very closely until a few years ago when they started
to change the players so much that, now, I don't even know half the players.
I probably know more player from LA or Pittsberg (and I am from Phily:->)
