"why do they have real noises in > such a fakey set" You know, a LOT of TV shows use that exact same sound effects recording to represent the sounds of a room full of a lot of sophisticated equipment. To name just one, I think of a laboratory depicted in an episode of *I Dream of Jeannie*. It is used constantly in cartoons and in sketches on variety shows. It seems that the television world assumes that either a) we watch only one television program; b) we have no auditory memory; or c) is too dirt cheap to invest in more production company. Or it might be a combination of any or all of the above. At any rate, it is an insult to our intelligence and taste, to say the least. Jim Campbell ...!ihnp4!ima!haddock!jimc
