Letterman has some of the biggest names in jazz and R&R sitting in with
his band from time to time.  Sure, he has lesser knowns sitting in from time
to time, and I don't care to see them, but when Eric Clapton sits in (and he
never makes TV appearances), I would LOVE to hear him play something, especially
when he is announced in advance as being a special guest on the show.  While
I am not a Van Halen fan, I would have even enjoyed seeing 1 song from Eddie.
It seems that the artists who do get to play are the jazz artists, and while
I like to see quality musicians, I prefer R&R...and they get relegated to during
commercials only, and the interested fans get to see 5-10 sx before and after 
the commercials. 

As a matter of fact, I like most of Paul's arrangements, and wish that every
now and then Dave would let him play one of his own arrangements of an oldie.

P.S.  Has anyone besides me noticed how appropriate the Letterman Show's bumpers
are?  (Bumpers are the still photos they use before and after commercials.)
If you look at them right, they are very funny!
