You might find something interesting in the first few pages of the Starlog
Doctor Who Super Special (I *think* that's the name...).  They have bits
of each one of the 5 various opening sequences as still photos.

Apparently the theme has never changed.  It's been perfomed differently (e.g.
the current electronic version vs. the one that you might have heard at the
end of the Five Doctors) but I think the music is all the same.
Also, I remember seeing a "tunnel-effect" opening for a Pertwee episode,
The Time Warrior; the only differences were that the face was Pertwee's
(naturally) and that the tunnel's color was GREEN!  (Has anyone else
ever seen this?)

I believe this bridge was used only in the end-of-season episodes when the
series was 6 episodes long and the credits on the last episode were longer.
Then the bridge that gets into the Davison credits is used.

Yes... I used to do terrible things with the music at my old high school.
I used to start up the game in our computer room on 8 Apples simultaneously
to irritate the Math teacher...
