Oh, come on now.  Let's not go porting FORTRAN to Unix just to use
XMODEM!  The UMODEM program I wrote for Unix years ago (and added to
by many others since then) has been generally available for a long,
long time.  I'm sure it's still on SIMTEL20 and probably about
80% of the Unix systems on the net.
