It seems that if I create a directory with a limit, files inherit that limit. If however, I create the directory without a limit, then later do a SET FILE FOO.DIR/VERSION=n the new limit has no effect on files created in the directory. It is as if the SET FILE command put a limit on the number of DIRECTORY VERSIONS (which is meaningless to VMS) instead of setting a limit on FILE VERSIONS IN THE DIRECTORY. Is there any way to do this once a directory is created? Thanks for any help. Rg -------
