Number 2 is more expensive but can give better service. Number 1 is ok for most applications, although you can see a florescent lamp flicker during the switchover, it does not go out. All the equipment I have doesn't notice, anyway. So the question is, what would you expect to happen if you plug a UPS into itself? Do UPS designers have special provision for this kind of abuse? -- People do what management inspects, not what management expects.
