Many people say, and I agree, that in the price range you're looking
at it is very hard to do better than the DUAL-505.  DUAL produces some
other tables in this price range as well.  The reason for the recommendation
is the superior nature of the tonearm used, as well as the belt-driven 
platter.  

recently bought one, after looking and listening to many tables, 
and am quite pleased.
