I wear glasses while cycling for many reasons: 1) If they're shaded, like sunglasses, they obviously allow for riding towards a low sun early and late in the day, and on bright days help to cut down on eye fatigue from glare. 2) They protect one of my favorite senses: eyesight. They help to keep the bugs (and other miscellaneous objects dropped from autos) out of my eyes. 3) Since I have hayfever, wearing glasses keeps my eyes from getting an overdose of airborne pollen. (This really does help: It keeps me from scratching my eyes out on those really bad spring days). Since I've never seen this topic taken up here I'd like your opinions/suggestions/experiences on cycling glasses/goggles. I have a pair of 'All Arounds' Eyewear, made by Norton Co. ( I got 'em from Bike Nashbar for about $9-10). These goggles do reasonably well. These have the following advantages: o Comfortable o Enough clearance from my eye brows so that sweat doesn't get on them- avoiding the normal requirement of frequent cleaning. o Extremely impact resistant o A wide field of vision (something like 220 degrees- they claim) And the following disadvantages: o Only available in solid colors (the ones I have are 'Gradient Gray'), so you need a different color for night riding, riding on overcast days and one more for sunny days. o As far as appearance is concerned I can't say that much for them: they're essentially shaded safety goggles -> unless of course you're into the punk rock'er look. So come on now, whats everybody got on for four eyes?? Write to me, or write to the USENET. I'll post a summary for you to delete at a later date.
