I got only one response to my question about what the wheel adjustment washers
that come with the Cateye Solar are for.  This is it: 

        I believe the washers are meant to be placed along
        the axle between the hub and the fork if you need
        to move the spokes nearer the sensor on the 
        opposite part of the fork.  I think I read that 
        somewhere in the manual; but can't be sure.
